Despite hearing some contrary reviews about this site, we found it absolutely wonderful with some superb facilities in an excellent location.

The site is well sign posted from St Julien and easy to find. First impressions were magnificent with the sight of the chateau up at the end of the tree lined drive of the main entrance. We were welcomed by a very friendly and helpful reception office and we were shown a choice of pitches and site facilities were fully explained. All staff spoke very good English.

The C&CC were holding their rally on this site during our visit which probably made the site busier than usual for the time of year.

About half the site is taken up by static's and tour operators' tents. Our pitch was part sheltered with trees from the woods which meant that the Sky TV would not be able to receive a signal and the sun shine reached our bit of grass from about 11am onwards. Pitch sizes were some of the largest we've experienced and mostly level, firm grass, well drained and hedged. Each pitch shared an EHU post, ours had reversed polarity whilst next door didn't. Water point was about 20 metres away. Chemical disposal, shower block, poubelles etc., was centrally located about 50 metres away.

The heated pool area was excellent although I would think that getting a sun lounger in high season would be a bit of a task. It was busy even during our stay.

The site shop was hopelessly small and inadequate. However, there are plenty of supermarkets just a short drive away

The restaurant had a varied a la carte and fast food menu and seemed to be alright from what others told me but we didn't eat there.

The pool bar was very good and all the staff were a great craic, always having a joke with us. Good fun, party atmosphere. Big TV screen for sky sports etc.. Small screen TV and seating area dedicated for showing kiddies TV and films.

Plenty to keep the younger ones occupied, i.e., kids club, play areas, etc..

There is fishing from 3 of the 4 lakes. The best fishing lake was about 1 km. from site and it looked like a hole in the ground with steep gravel banks. It was claimed that 20lb+ carp and pike are in there but no one I spoke to caught anything worth getting the scales out for. Same said for the other lakes. The main lake (No. 2) was only 100 metres from our pitch but nothing came out weighing more than 4 oz's.

A pleasant enough environment with a number of walking and horse / pony riding nature trails around the woods and lakes on site.

All the pitches, the site in general and all the facilities were very clean and very well maintained.

Plenty to see and do off site. Plenty of information leaflets and discounted attraction entrance tickets available in reception, the staff are very helpful for any questions you might have.

Highly recommended site and we definitely plan to return. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Here we also had excellent sunny warm weather for most of the time.
